(Nov. 17) Matthew Levine scored the lone goal for Emory University in its second-round game of the NCAA tournament. The senior's 15th goal of the season tied the contest at 1-1 at the 76th minute. A day later, he became the fifth Eagle to be honored as the University Athletic Association's conference Player of the Year. Levine was also selected to first team all-conference for the third straight year, a feat accomplished by only two other players in Emory history. On the season Levine led the team in goals (15) and points (35). He was ranked nationally as high as eighth and ninth, respectively, in those categories. Levine finished his collegiate career with 49 goals, 22 assists, and 120 points, totals that rank third, sixth, and second in the school record book. Emory has improved in goal and point totals every season since Levine's freshman year. Emory finished 2003 with 16 wins, tied for most in Emory history.

Co-captain Chris Scharer received honorable mention for All-University Athletic Association honors. The senior back helped the Emory defense set a season record with a 0.69 team goals against average. The Eagles allowed 17 fewer goals this year than last year, the biggest single-season improvement in school history. Scharer finished his collegiate career with two goals and five assists. Emory tied a school record this year with 16 wins and reached the post-season for the first time since 1998.


(Nov. 10) Senior Andy Goldberg contributed to Emory University's 14-shot effort last week against No. 7 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.). Goldberg, who played his last regular season game as an Emory Eagle, totaled two goals and three assists in his final season. He ranks 13th all-time in school history for career assists and 16th for career goals. His best year came in 2001 when his 12 goals tied for the team high. Goldberg was a part of a team this season that had the third-highest point total in Emory history. Coupled with 2002, the last two seasons have seen the second most points ever registered in consecutive seasons by any two Emory teams. The Eagles have improved offensively in goal and point totals every season since Goldberg's freshman year. Emory University, at 16-1-1, has tied the school record for most wins in a season. The Eagles have received one of the four at-large bids for the NCAA Division III tournament and were ranked No. 3 in the country.

Senior Chris Scharer helped limit Carnegie Mellon (Pa.), the seventh-ranked team in the nation, to two shots on goal in his final regular season game as an Emory Eagle. The team co-captain is a part a defense that has allowed a 0.62 goals against average this season that is on pace for the best in Emory history and ranked 23rd-best in the country. On the season Emory allowed an average of seven shots per game. Scharer has two goals and five assists in his career. Emory University, at 16-1-1, has tied the school record for most wins in a season. The Eagles have received one of the four at-large bids for the NCAA Division III tournament and were ranked No. 3 in the country.


(Nov. 3) Jon Arost scored two goals to help Emory University win two conference games. The junior forward scored the game-winning goal against Brandeis in a 6-1 victory. He also scored the tying goal against New York. Emory was down 1-0 at halftime before Arost's goal in the 48th minute started a second half rally that included three goals and 16 shots by the Eagles. Arost's 10 goals and 26 points on the season are career-best numbers. He ranks third and fourth in goals and assists, respectively, on the team behind players that are among national leaders in those categories. Emory improved to 16-1-1 and is ranked No. 3 in the nation.

Chris Scharer made a game-winning assist and helped Emory University win a pair of conference games. The senior co-captain helped the defense limit Brandeis and New York to one goal apiece in 6-1 and 3-1 victories, respectively. His assist against New York helped extend Emory's home unbeaten streak to 10 games. Scharer helped the defense yield 19 total shots in two games last week, only 10 of those were on goal. Emory's defense, with a team goals against average of 0.61, is on pace to break the school's all-time record of 0.73. The team ranks 24th nationally in goals against average. Emory improved to 16-1-1 and is ranked No. 3 in the nation.


(Oct. 27) Chad Chambers scored 11 seconds after entering the game and helped Emory University win a pair of games last week. The freshman's play helped keep alive two streaks dating back to last season. He scored an insurance goal against University of the South (Tenn.) two minutes after Sewanee had cut the lead to one. This secured a 3-1 victory that extended Emory's home unbeaten streak to nine, second best in school history. Chambers also played a part in the Eagles' 3-0 win against Huntingdon (Ala.) that continued a string of 17 consecutive non-conference wins. Chambers on the season is fifth on the team with three goals and leads all Emory freshmen in goals and points. Emory improved to 14-1-1 and is ranked No. 4 in the nation.

Tyler Gordon came back from a serious injury to play all 180 minutes in a pair of Emory University wins. After missing eight starts, the junior defender helped the defense keep Huntingdon (Ala.) scoreless, 3-0, in what was the Eagles' eighth shutout of the season. Gordon's effort in the backfield also resulted in a 3-1 win against University of the South (Tenn.). Emory's defense ranks 19th in the nation in goals against average. The Eagles improved to 14-1-1 and is ranked No. 4 in the nation.


(Oct. 20) Chris Nehls scored two goals in a 4-0 win against Case Western Reserve (Ohio). The senior had his second multi-goal game of the season to help Emory University extend its best start in school history. Nehls is second on the team this season in goals and total points despite making his first start last week. He has nine goals and 20 points this season in comparison to his totals of six goals and 22 points in the previous three years of his Emory career. The Eagles are ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Defender Jeff Alexander scored the game-winning goal of a shutout last week. The junior's first goal of the season came against Case Western Reserve (Ohio) in a 4-0 win. In the same game, he helped the defense hold CWRU to four shots at goal. Against Rochester, he played 59 minutes in place of an injured starter. The Eagles began the week with the 19th lowest goals against average in the nation. Emory University is ranked No. 2 in the nation.


(Oct. 13) Karl Dix scored and assisted to help Emory University to an undefeated week. The freshman scored his fourth goal of the season against Maryville and assisted on the "golden goal" in a 2-1 overtime victory. It was the fourth time this season that Dix scored and assisted in the same game. He is ranked 19th in the nation in assists. Dix leads the team in assists and ranks third in total points. Emory University is ranked No. 3 in the nation and, at 11-0-1, is off to the best start in school history.

Kevin McCarthy helped lead the Emory University defense to its sixth shutout of the season in an undefeated week for the Eagles. Against Washington (Mo.), Emory did not yield a shot at goal in the first 36 minutes of the first half and the first 41 minutes of the second half. With McCarthy playing the sweeper position, the Eagles allowed three shots total in a 0-0 overtime tie. Emory limited Maryville (Tenn.) to six shots at goal in a 2-1 overtime victory. The Eagles are ranked 16th in the nation in team goals against average and have allowed one goal at home this season. The squad, with six goals against in 12 games and seven regular season games remaining, is on pace to break the school record of 15 goals against in a season. Emory University is ranked No. 3 in the nation and, at 11-0-1, is off to the best start in school history.


(Oct. 6) Anthony Esposito scored the tying goal in Emory University's conference-opening win on the road. The junior's first score of the season helped the Eagles to a 3-1 victory against Chicago. Esposito is ranked No. 19 in the nation in assists and is the team leader in assists with seven, two of them aiding game-winners. He has matched his career high for points in a single season with nine regular-season games remaining. Emory is ranked No. 3 in the country and No. 1 in the region.

Andrew Chern helped the Emory defense hold its opponent to one goal in conference-opening win. In his first game back from a concussion, the sophomore back was a factor in limiting Chicago to seven shots on goal in a 3-1 Eagles victory. Chern leads all backfielders in assists with two on the season. He is a part of a defense that has yet to allow a goal at home season and has allowed nine fewer goals than last season at the same point. Emory is ranked No. 3 in the country and No. 1 in the region..


(Sept. 29) Karl Dix scored once and assisted twice in wins over an NCAA Division II school and an NAIA school. He scored his third goal of the season against Savannah Art & Design (Ga.) in a 5-1 victory and his assist in that game tied him for the team lead with seven this season. Dix also assisted against Division II Erskine (S.C.) to help the Eagles remain perfect on the season. With the two games last week, Dix extended his streak of either scoring or assisting in a game to seven. He is third on the team in total points and second in game-winners this season. Emory University, at 9-0, is ranked No. 4 in the country and No. 1 in its region.

Matthew Kaufman helped the Emory defense shut out an NCAA Division II school and win both games last week. With Kaufman subbing for an injured senior starter in the backfield, Emory held Division II Erskine (S.C.) to two shots on goal, and Savannah Art & Design (Ga.) to three, en route to a school record for consecutive road victories with six, all achieved this season. The Eagles, at 9-0 this season, have matched last year's total of six shutouts and allowed 10 fewer goals than at the same point last season. Emory University is ranked No. 4 in the country and No. 1 in its region.


(Sept. 22) Senior forward Matt Levine scored four goals last week, two of them against a nationally top-10 team, in a pair of Emory wins. In a game played at Greensboro (N.C.), the sixth ranked team in the nation, Levine scored the tying and insurance goals in a 3-1 victory. He also scored twice against Oglethorpe (Ga.), including the game-winner, to help Emory University remain undefeated at 7-0. Levine leads the team in goals (10) and points (22) this season and has at least one goal in every game. He is ranked 17th and 19th nationally in points and goals, respectively. Levine moved into third place this season on both the school's all-time career goals and points lists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rohit Agarwal recorded one shutout in a pair of Emory wins. Against Greensboro (N.C.), the sixth ranked team in the nation and top-ranked team in the South region, he made three saves and allowed one score on eight shots on goal. His two-save, shutout performance against Oglethorpe (Ga.) was his fourth shutout of the season, with two of them being solo and the others combined efforts. With Agarwal in front of the net, Emory has yet to cede a goal at home. The Eagles have outscored opponents 25-3 and were ranked No. 7 in the South region.


(Sept. 15) Chris Nehls scored two goals, including a game-winner, to help Emory win two games last week. The victories came against Christopher Newport (Va.), ranked No. 8 regionally, and Methodist (N.C.). His game-winner against Methodist was his first of the season and his second goal in the same game made it his first career multi-goal game. Nehls leads all reserves with four goals and two assists and is third on the team in those categories. He has already matched his career mark set last year for goals scored in a season. The Eagles are 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 7 in the South region, its highest ranking since 1999.

Team co-captain Kevin McCarthy helped the Emory defense yield one goal in a pair of wins last week. The defense recorded its third shutout of the season against Methodist (N.C.) and held regionally ranked Christopher Newport (Va.) to one goal. With McCarthy in the backfield, Emory limited its two opponents last week to 20 fewer shots at goal than its offense. Emory has outscored the opposition this season 19-2 in five games, a six-goal improvement on last season at this point, and has not allowed any goals at home. The undefeated Eagles are ranked No. 7 in the South region and 2-0 against regionally ranked teams.


(Sept. 8) Matthew Levine led Emory Unversity to a pair of wins over Shorter College (Ga.), 5-0, and regionally ranked Hampden-Sydney College (Va.), 4-0, with totals of three goals and one assist. His two-goal game against Hampden-Sydney was the seventh multi-goal game of his career. The three goals this week elevate him into fifth place on the school's all-time career goals list and sixth place on the career points list. Levine leads the team in goals, game-winners, and total points. The Eagles, ranked seventh in the South region, improves to 3-0.

Tyler Gordon helped the Emory University defense shut out its two opponents last week and added a game-winning assist. Shorter (Ga.) and Hampden-Sydney (Va.), ranked in the South region, were limited to a total of three shots at goal. With Gordon in the backfield, Emory has yet to be scored on at home this season and has yielded a total of one goal in three games. The unbeaten Eagles, ranked seventh in the South region, have three wins on the season.


(Sept. 1) Matthew Levine scored the winning goal for Emory University in its season opener. Levine converted at the 68-minute mark to help the Eagles to a 2-1 win at Piedmont (Ga.). The goal was the 35th of Levine's career, leaving him one shy of fifth place on the school's all-time list. Levine was 18th in the nation in points last season and made the all-region team for the second time.

Rohit Agarwal made his first career start in goal in Emory University's season-opening victory. The sophomore made six saves to help the Eagles to a 2-1 win at Piedmont (Ga.). The only goal allowed in his 90 minutes was on a penalty kick. As a freshman Agarwal made three saves and played 75 minutes during parts of five games.
