(Oct. 30) Emory University's Patrick McFarland came off the bench to register one goal on five shots over the course of two conference games last week. McFarland's scored the goal against Case Western Reserve University (Ohio), scoring off of a deflected shot in the 77th minute of the game. The sophomore is second on the team with five goals and five assists for 15 points during the 2006 campaign, and has helped Emory to an 11-5-0 record this year.
Defense
(Oct. 30) Emory University's Brandon Rust helped the Eagles hold their opponents scoreless during his 120 minutes played over two games last week. In a 1-0 win against the 24th-ranked University of Rochester (N.Y.), Rust played all 90 minutes and contributed on both sides of the ball, anchoring an Emory defense that recorded its seventh shutout of the season. In the match, Rust also picked up his fifth assist of the season on the game's deciding goal. The senior defender and co-captain helped hold Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) scoreless, before being forced out of the game in the 30th minute with an injury. Rust has been a key part in an Emory team that has outscored its opponents 30-14 this season, and compiled an 11-5-0 record.
Offense
(Oct. 23) Emory University forward Alex Diego
scored the game-winning goal against Greensboro College (N.C.),
helping the Eagles to a 3-0 over their regional rival. Coming
off the bench in the 27th minute, Diego made his presence known
shortly, scoring the deciding goal of the match during the 37th
minute. The junior has scored a career-best three goals this
season, two of which have been game-winners. With the win,
the Eagles improved to 10-4-0 for the 2006 campaign.
Defense
(Oct. 23) Emory University goalkeeper Keith Meehan
recorded his fifth shutout of the season in a 3-0 Eagles win over
Greensboro College (N.C.). Meehan made six saves during the
game, including three saves in a 10 second period in the 20th
minute to keep Greensboro off of the scoreboard. The junior
improved his record to 10-4-0 and lowered his season goals against
average to 0.70. His career goals against average of 0.51 is
the lowest in school history. Meehan's play in goal helped
the Eagles improve to 10-4-0 this season.
Defense
(Oct. 16) Emory University goalkeeper Keith Meehan made 13 saves in two games for Emory University last week. Against New York University, Meehan recorded seven saves on nine shots on goal. The junior co-captain allowed just one goal to Brandeis University (Mass.), while making six saves on seven shots on goal against the Judges. Meehan is 9-4-0 this season with a 0.75 goals against average and his 0.54 career goals against average is the lowest in school history.

Offense
Emory University forward Chad Chambers scored the game-tying goal
against the University of Chicago (Ill.) last week. Chambers
recorded the goal during the 59th minute of the game, to even the
score at a goal a piece between the two teams. The senior's
three goals and 12 points are good for third on the team and his
six assists are t he second-best total for the Eagles this
season. Emory, ranked 17th in the nation, hold a 9-2-0
overall record and are 1-1-0 in conference play this year.
Defense
Emory University defender Matthew Kaufman helped the Eagles
outshoot conference-rival University of Chicago (Ill.).
Kaufman led an Eagles defense that held Chicago to seven shots
during the game. The returning all-region player is part of
an Emory defense that is ranked 20th in the nation in team goals
against average and has five shutouts this year. The 17th
ranked Eagles are 9-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference this
season.

Offense
Emory University midfielder Tai Doan scored the lone goal of the
game for the Eagles in helping them to a 1-0 win over No. 22
Washington University on Saturday. Doan's tally came off of a
direct free kick from 15 yards out in the 65th minute. The
goal was Doan's first of the season, and his second career
game-winning goal in a conference game. Three of the senior's
four career goals have come in conference games.
Defense
Jordan Edelman was part of an Emory defense that allowed just two
goals in 290 minutes played last week. Edelman's play helped
the Eagles outshoot opposing teams 45-20 in Emory's last three
games, including holding University Athletic Association rival, No.
22 Washington University, to just six shots during a 1-0 Emory
shutout victory. The sophomore defender also assisted the
Eagles in limiting NCAA Division II opponent Clayton State
University (Ga.) to a goal on eight shots in a 3-1 Eagle win.
The Eagles, ranked 9th in the nation, hold a 9-1-0 record this
season.
Sept. 25
Offense
Emory University midfielder Tai Doan orchestrated an offense that
outscored its opponents 6-1 in two games last week. Doan
helped the Eagles score three goals against Oglethorpe University
(Ga.), a team that has allowed 1.75 goals per game this
season. Against the University of the South (Tenn.), Doan
took two shots, helping the Eagles to a 3-0 win. Doan has
helped the 10th ranked Emory Eagles to a 7-0-0 start this season.
Defense
Brandon Rust was part of an Emory University defense that helped
the Eagles' outscore their opponents 6-1 in two games last
week. During the two games, Rust and the Eagles defense
allowed just eight shots on goal. The senior co-captain
helped the Eagles shut out the University of the South (Tenn.) in a
3-0 win, and took two shots during the game. The shutout was
Emory's fourth of the season, as the 10th ranked Eagles improved to
7-0-0 this season.
Sept. 18
Offense
Emory University midfielder Alex Diego scored the
only goal in a 1-0 Eagles win over Lynchburg College (Va.).
Diego scored his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute,
giving the Emory defense the only scoring it would need in the
game. The score was the first game-winning goal of Diego's
Emory career. The junior took two shots in the game, both of
which were on goal. Diego now has a goal and an assist for
three points this year. The ninth-ranked Eagles remained
perfect this season, improving to 5-0-0 with the win.
Defense
Emory University goalkeeper Keith Meehan did not
allow a goal in two games last week, leading the Eagles to two
wins. Meehan played all 180 minutes in goal for Emory during
the week, converting on five saves. The junior is now 5-0-0
this season with three shutouts. Meehan has never lost a game
in his Emory career, compiling a perfect 10-0-0 record, with seven
career shutouts. The Eagles, ranked ninth in the nation, are
5-0-0 this season.
Sept. 11
Offense
Patrick McFarland scored three goals, and assisted
on a game winning goal to help Emory University finish atop the
Emory University Tournament this week. The sophomore forward
picked up his second-career hat trick against the seventh-ranked
College of New Jersey, helping the Eagles to a 4-1 win in the
opening game of the tournament. In the championship game
against Christopher Newport University (Va.), McFarland assisted on
the game-winning goal in overtime, clinching the tournament for
Emory. McFarland's seven points and three goals this season
are both team bests. The 11th ranked Eagles improved to 3-0-0
this season.
Defense
Midfielder Marc Del Marmol played every minute of
Emory University's two victories this weekend, helping the Eagles
win the Emory University Tournament. In the opening game of
the tournament, the sophomore and the rest of the Eagles defense
held the seventh-ranked College of New Jersey to one goal, in a 4-1
Emory win. Against Christopher Newport University (Va.), Del
Marmol helped shutdown the Captains in the second half and
overtime, before Emory scored a golden goal in overtime to win the
game 2-1. The Eagles have allowed just two goals in three
games this season, and have out-shot opponents 63-27. Emory,
ranked 11th in the nation, improved to 3-0-0 this year.
Sept. 5
Offense
Emory University's Patrick Carver helped spearhead
a strong Emory offensive attack on Sunday as the Eagles opened
their season with a 4-0 triumph over Wisconsin Lutheran. The 6-foot
Carver assisted on Emory's first goal of the year, and the
contest's deciding tally, a corner kick that senior Alex Grigalunas
headed in at the 36:53 mark of the game. Carver led repeated
charges into the Wisconsin Lutheran end of the field and finished
with three shots on goal. For the game, he had seven shot attempts
and helped the Eagles to a 38-3 advantage in that category,
representing the third-highest single game mark in school history.
Defense
Senior defender Alex Grigalunas scored the
game-winning goal over Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday. The 6-foot-3
Grigalunas also led a solid Emory defensive effort that allowed the
Warriors just three shot attempts all afternoon, none of which were
on goal.
