The Emory University men’s soccer team, ranked ninth among
NCAA Division III teams, will wrap-up a brief two-game home stand
with a non-conference game against cross-town opponent Oglethorpe
University at 7:30 PM on Tuesday.
Coverage
Tuesday’s game will be webcasted at http://go.emory.edu/Webcasts/MSoccWebcast.html.
RealPlayer version 10 or newer is needed to watch the webcast, and
can be downloaded for free at www.real.com. Please note that
there is a women’s game prior to the men’s contest, and
if it runs late, the start of the men’s game (and therefore
the webcast) might be delayed. Live-updating statistics for
the game are available at http://go.emory.edu/LiveStats/MSocc/XLIVE.HTM.
Emory University Eagles
Emory will enter the game with a record of 10-0-1 this season,
including a perfect 6-0-0 mark at the Woodruff P.E. Center this
season and a 9-0-0 record against non-conference opponents.
Emory is coming off a thrilling 1-0 win over the University of
Chicago on Saturday, winning on a Zach Samuels
goal. The Eagles are led by head coach Sonny
Travis, who is 54-9-4 during his four seasons with the
team.
Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels
The Stormy Petrels have an overall record of 5-4-1 this
season, including a 0-3-0 record on the road this season.
Oglethorpe is 2-0-0 in two neutral matches at the Woodruff P.E.
Center earlier this year at the Sonny Carter Invitational.
The team has lost four of its last five games, including a 1-0
defeat on Saturday at the University of the South. The Stormy
Petrels are led by head coach Jon Akin.
Last Meeting
Emory earned a 3-1 win at Oglethorpe last season, during which
Samuels assisted on two goals, and Charlie Donahue
scored one of his own.
Emory Notes
Senior Adam Waxman was named the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) Defensive Player of the Week after the team’s 1-0 shutout win over Chicago… Waxman and the Emory defense allowed just seven shots, only four of which were on goal, en route to the team’s ninth-consecutive shutouts… Emory is currently ranked second among all NCAA Division III teams with a 0.09 goals-against average, trailing only the Stevens Institute, which is yet to allow a goal this season… Emory is tied with Washington University (Mo.) and New York University for first place in the UAA after two contests.
