    Emory University senior Andrew Jones converted a key penalty kick in the first half of Saturday’s game against 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, guiding the Eagles to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against the Tartans. The goal came on the first penalty kick attempt of Jones’ career, as the successful try in the ninth minute gave Emory a 1-0 lead at the time. The forward and two-time all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honorable mention also played a career-high 105 minutes during the game. Jones now has three goals and four assists this season, and is tied for third on the team with 10 points. Emory finished the regular season second in the UAA with a 4-1-2 record in conference games, and an overall record of 11-5-2.

    Emory University sophomore Leo Ragazzo scored the game-winning goal during the Eagles’ 1-0 win at Case Western Reserve University on Sunday. In the 28th minute, Ragazzo scored the decisive goal off a long throw in that deflected off the back of the Spartans’ goalkeeper and into the net. It was the second goal of the season for the outside back, both of which have been game winners. He also contributed defensively in the game, helping limit Case to four shots on goal as the Eagles defense recorded its sixth shutout of the campaign. The win on Sunday brought the Eagles’ overall record to 11-5-1, including a 4-1-1 mark in University Athletic Association (UAA) games, good for first-place in the conference with one game remaining in the regular season.

    Emory University junior Jeffrey Cochran scored the team’s only goal during the Eagles’ 2-1 loss at Covenant College on Wednesday night. Trailing 2-0 late, Cochran got the Eagles on the board and back in the game, scoring his first goal of the season in the 81st minute of play off an assist from Sebastian Hardington. The shot was the only one of the game for the junior, who came off the bench to play 19 minutes during the contest. The outside back also held Covenant without a shot during his time on the pitch. Cochran has one goal and a team-high seven assists for nine points this season, the fourth-best mark by an Eagle in 2013. Emory, currently in first place in the UAA with a 3-0-1 conference record, stands at 10-4-1 overall this season.

    Emory University sophomore Abe Hannigan helped lead the Eagles to a pair of University Athletic Association (UAA) victories with his strong play in goal last weekend. Hannigan earned his fifth shutout of the season during Emory’s 2-0 win over New York University on Friday, making three saves during the contest. On Sunday, the goalkeeper recorded a season-high six saves against Brandeis University, the 17th-best offense in the country to start the week, as Emory earned a 3-1 win over the Judges. Hannigan, who has played all but 14 minutes in goal this season for Emory, lowered his goals-against average to 1.00, while raising his save percentage to .750. In addition, he leads all UAA goalkeepers in GAA (0.47) and save percentage (.895) in UAA contests. With the wins, Emory improved to 10-3-1 overall this season, and remained in first place in the UAA with a 3-0-1 conference record.

    Emory University junior Dylan Price was the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) leading scorer in conference play last week, notching a combined three goals during wins over New York University and Brandeis University. On Friday, Price scored the game-winning goal in the 34th minute in a 2-0 win against New York University. He finished the game leading all players with five shots and three shots on goal. On Sunday, the Emory co-captain led the squad to a 3-1 upset over 12th-ranked Brandeis, scoring on a header in the 19th minute to knot the score at one goal apiece, and extending the Eagles’ lead to two goals with an insurance score in the 53rd-minute. He again led all players with three shots on goal, and all Eagles in the game with five shots. Price is the top scorer in the UAA in 2013 with 10 goals and 24 points, including a conference-best four goals and nine points in UAA matches. In addition, he is now tied for 14th in school history with 29 career goals, 19th with 66 career points, and third with 11 career game-winning goals. Price and the Eagles improved to 10-3-1 this season with the victories, including a 3-0-1 mark in UAA play, good for first-place in the conference.

    Emory University sophomore goalkeeper Abe Hannigan recorded his season-high in saves during the Eagles’ 2-0 upset victory on the road against the 23rd-ranked University of Chicago. Hannigan made five saves, including three in the second half, en route to recording the shutout, his fourth clean sheet of the season. With the win, the goalkeeper improved his season record to 8-3-1, while lowering his goals-against average to 1.08 and raising his save percentage to .729. Hannigan and the Eagles raised their record to 1-0-1 in University Athletic Association (UAA) matches this season, and to 8-3-1 overall.

    Emory University sophomore Sebastian Hardington scored the game-winning goal during the Eagles’ 2-0 upset win on the road against the 23rd-ranked University of Chicago on Saturday. Hardington struck for his first goal of the season in the 38th minute of play, breaking the scoreless tie with a header off a long throw in. The goal-scoring shot was the only attempt of the day for the midfielder. Hardington now has a goal and two assists for four points this season. In addition, the score was the second of the sophomore’s career, both of which have been game-winning goals in conference games. With the win, Hardington and the Eagles improved to 1-0-1 in University Athletic Association (UAA) matches this season, and to 8-3-1 overall.

    Emory University junior Carl Credle scored the Eagles’ only goal during a 1-1 double-overtime tie against 15th-ranked Washington University (Mo.) on Sunday afternoon. Credle notched the score, his second of the season, in the 62nd minute of action, banging a shot off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal. The midfielder played all 110 minutes of the game, taking three shots during the contest. With the tie, Credle and the Eagles now stand at 7-3-1 on the season, including a 0-0-1 record in University Athletic Association (UAA) matches.

    Emory University sophomore goalkeeper Abe Hannigan helped lead the Eagles to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against 15th-ranked Washington University (Mo.) on Sunday. Hannigan allowed just one goal, while converting three saves over his 110 minutes of play. He improved to 7-3-1 on the season with the tie, while lowering his goals-against average to 1.18 and raising his save percentage to .683. Hannigan and the Eagles now stand at 7-3-1 on the season, including a 0-0-1 record in University Athletic Association (UAA) contests.

    Emory University freshman Jason Andrejchak scored two goals and assisted on another during a pair of wins for the Eagles last week. On Wednesday night, during a 4-2 win over Birmingham-Southern College, Andrejchak assisted on the eventual game-winning goal in the 57th minute, and scored an insurance goal in the 87th minute of play to secure the Eagles’ victory. He finished the game with a team-high four shots, including one on goal. The forward followed that performance by scoring the only goal during a 1-0 win over Millsaps College on Saturday, breaking a scoreless tie in the 83rd minute with what would become his first career game-winning goal. Andrejchak is now second among all Eagles this season in goals (three), assists (three) and points (nine), and leads the team with two game-winning assists. With the perfect week, Emory improved to 7-3-0 in 2013.

    Emory University sophomore Leo Ragazzo turned in a pair of strong performances for the Eagles’ defense, helping the team to victories in both of its games last week. The outside back played all 90 minutes of Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Birmingham-Southern College on Wednesday, scoring the game-winning goal on a header in the 57th minute of the game, and finishing the contest with three shots, including two on goal. The score was the first of his career. Defensively, Ragazzo helped limit the Panthers to just five shots on goal during the contest. On Sunday, the sophomore helped the Eagles record their third clean sheet of the season, as Emory defeated Millsaps 1-0. Ragazzo played the entire first half for Emory, taking one shot on goal, while holding the Majors scoreless with five shots, including one on goal, during his time on the field. He has now started all 10 games this season for the Emory defense, recording one goal and one assist for three points, while helping the team record a 1.20 goals-against average. Ragazzo and the Eagles improved to 7-3-0 with the two wins last week.

    Emory University sophomore Nick Schook scored the first two goals of his collegiate career, including the game-winning goal, against Maryville College (Tenn.) on Wednesday night to lead the Eagles to a 4-1 victory. Schook struck for the first time in the 49th minute of the game, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the time with what would eventual be the game-winning goal. After the Scots cut the lead to 2-1, the midfielder scored again in the 64th minute to buffer the Eagles’ advantage. Schook finished the game with four shots, including three on goal, during his 77 minutes of action. On Saturday, during a 2-0 home loss to Berry College, Schook played 58 minutes, taking one shot. With the 1-1 week, Schook and the Eagles now stand at 5-3-0 for the season.

    Emory University junior Carl Credle scored his first goal of the season during Sunday’s contest against Centre College. Credle’s only shot of the game came in the 29th minute, when the midfielder launched a shot into the back of the net after a throw in from Leo Ragazzo. He made his first start of the campaign in the game, playing 71 minutes in a 2-1 Emory loss. The Eagles, ranked 25th in Division III, have opened the 2013 season with a 4-2-0 record.

    Emory University junior outside back Jeffrey Cochran was a key factor for the Eagles’ defense last weekend, in addition to spurring the team’s offense over the course of the squad’s two victories. He played 151 minutes during the two contests, limiting Emory’s opponents to a combined 10 shots, four shots on goal and one goal scored, while assisting on a pair of scores for the Eagles. During Friday’s 4-1 win at Averett University, he helped the Eagles’ defense limit the Cougars to one goal on six shots (just three of which were on goal) during his 82 minutes on the field. In addition, he assisted on the game-winning goal with a long throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game. On Sunday, Cochran helped lead the Eagles to a 2-0 shutout win over Guilford College, playing 69 minutes and holding the Quakers to four shots, only one of which was on goal. He added his second assist of the weekend during the game, setting up a breakaway goal with a long pass up the middle of the field in the 88th minute. The junior defender has been a key player on an Emory defense that has recorded a 0.75 goals-against average and two shutouts through four games, while holding opponents to an average of 5.25 shots and 2.5 shots on goal per game. Cochran and the Eagles have opened the 2013 season with a 4-0-0 record, marking the 13th time in school history that the team has started a campaign with four-straight victories.

    Emory University junior forward Dylan Price scored two goals and assisted on another during a pair of wins for the Eagles last weekend. At Averett University on Friday, Price led the Eagles to a 4-1 win by assisting on the first goal of the contest and scoring the game winner. He led all players in the game with eight shots and two shots on goal. During Sunday’s 2-0 win at Guilford College, Price took nine shots, four of which were on goal, and scored a key insurance goal in the 88th minute to cement the team’s victory. The Eagles’ co-captain leads all University Athletic Association (UAA) players with five goals, 11 points, two game winning goals and 29 shots this season. Price has opened the season by scoring at least one goal in each of Emory’s first four games, matching the longest streak of consecutive games with a goal in his career. In addition, his 24 career goals moved him into a tie for 18th-place in school history in the category with former Eagle Karl Dix (2003-05). Price and the Eagles have started the 2013 campaign with a 4-0-0 record, marking the 13th time in school history that the team has opened a season with four-straight victories.

    Emory University junior Dylan Price was named the Most Valuable Player of the Sonny Carter Invitational, hosted by the Eagles last weekend, after leading all tournament players with three goals. Price helped the Eagles open the season with a 6-2 win over Marian University (Wis.) on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals in the contest, including the team’s first of the game. On Sunday, the forward scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Mississippi College, converting a penalty kick in the 60th minute of action. His goal against the Choctaws was the ninth game-winning score of his career, giving him sole possession of fourth-place in school history in the category. Price led the Eagles to the Sonny Carter Invitational Championship, the team’s 10th in 13 years, as the squad opened the year with a 2-0-0 record for the first time since 2010.

    Emory University sophomore Matt Sherr was named to the Sonny Carter Invitational All-Tournament Team, after helping lead an Eagles backline that did not allow a goal during his 165 minutes on the field over two games. Sherr played 75 minutes during the Eagles’ 6-2 win over Marian University (Wis.) on Saturday, holding the Sabres scoreless on just one off-target shot during his time on the field. In addition, the center back notched his first goal of the season and third of his career, heading in a corner kick in the 86th minute for the Eagles’ fifth goal of the contest. On Sunday, Sherr played all 90 minutes of the Eagles’ 1-0 win over Mississippi College, helping the team to the shutout win and surrendering just seven shots to the Choctaws, only three of which were on goal. Sherr and the Eagles claimed the team championship at the Sonny Carter Invitational for the 10th time in 13 years, and opened their season with a 2-0-0 record for the first time since 2010.
