McCartney, Meyer Net Goals in 2-0 Win over Methodist

The Emory University Men's Soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season defeating Methodist University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon on the campus of NC Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Juniors Jason McCartney and Christian Meyer powered the offense for the Eagles on the afternoon with the duo each recording a tally for the Blue and Gold. McCartney netted his team leading second goal of the campaign, chipping a shot on a breakaway past the Monarch's keeper in the 19th minute. Meyer doubled the Emory lead in the 55th minute, putting a header into the back of the net.

Junior Graham LaBran-Boyd earned a shutout, the first of his career, in his second start of the season, making three stops for the Eagles.

Emory outshot the Monarchs on Saturday by an 11-7 margin with both McCartney and Meyer leading the way with three shots apiece.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow afternoon looking for their third straight win as they face NC Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm eastern.
