Emory Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision at Brandeis

The Emory University Men's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Brandeis University on Friday night at Waltham, Massachusetts. With the defeat, the Eagles fell to 9-4-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in UAA action while the Judges improved to 9-4-3 and 2-1-2 in conference play.

The Brandeis defense held the Emory offense in check all night, limiting the Eagles to just six shots total (three on goal), all coming in the first half. Juniors Gabriel Vasconcelos and Jason McCartney combined for four of the six Emory shots in the contest.

The Judges opened the scoring in the 26th minute as Christian Hernandez registered his first goal of the season. Hernandez found the back of the net heading in an offering from Josh Ocel off a free kick.

Emory had a chance to tie the score right before halftime with its best scoring opportunity of the game. Senior Jason Andrejchak put a header towards the far post but Brandeis defender Alex Walter made a great play to clear the ball off the line to preserve the 1-0 lead.

The Judges increased their lead to 2-0 as Thales Brito headed in a corner kick off the foot of Ocel in the 76th minute. The marker was Brito's second of the season while the assist was Ocel's UAA-leading ninth of the year.

The Eagles will look to bounce back as they take on New York University on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set to begin at 1:30 pm.
