Emory University soccer players senior Hannah Meyer and juniors Jason McCartney and Cody Gardiner have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

Meyer, a senior defender with a 3.76 grade-point average while double majoring in Biology and Chemistry, has anchored an Emory defensive unit this season that has posted seven shutouts, allowing 14 goals in 14 games and has limited the opposition to an average of 6.14 shots per game. Meyer has also contributed on the offensive end, tying her career-high with four points on the strength of one goal and two assists. In her career, she has appeared in 64 games, making 59 starts, and has accounted for three goals and two assists for eight points. Meyer has been named to the All-University Athletic Association team twice, a First Team selection as a junior and was an honorable mention as a freshman and was named the UAA Rookie of the Year in 2013. She is a four-time UAA Athlete of the Week selection, a three-time UAA All-Academic team member and has served as a team captain for the past three seasons.
McCartney, a junior midfielder double majoring in Biology and Russian with a 3.91 GPA, is currently enjoying the best season of his career. Through 13 games this season, McCartney has posted team-bests in goals (7), assists (7), points (21), shots (34), shots on goal (20) and game-winning goals (3), all figures representing career-highs. He ranks second among UAA field players in assists and points and is tied for fourth in goals. In his career, McCartney has racked up 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points in 48 games played while making 45 starts. He was named to the All-UAA Second Team as a sophomore and is a two-time UAA All-Academic team member.
Gardiner, a junior defender with a 3.61 GPA while double majoring in International Studies and History, has served as the defensive captain this season, anchoring a backline that has held opposing teams to 17 goals in 13 games (1.25 GAA). Gardiner has also posted career-best numbers on the offensive end, netting the first two goals of his career and adding an assist for five points. In his career, he has played in 33 games, 28 starts, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists for six points and is a two-time UAA All-Academic team member.
All three Eagles will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams. The Academic All-America teams for Division III men's and women's soccer will be announced on Friday, November 18th.
