Senior Cody Gardiner was named the Sonny Carter Invitational Tournament MVP after recording the game-winning goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Pacific Lutheran to help Emory clinch the tournament title. Gardiner also anchored the Eagles' defensive unit that allowed just three shots on goal total across the two games of the holiday tournament as Emory posted back-to-back shutouts to begin the season.
Senior Jason McCartney was named to the Sonny Carter Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Emory offense to a pair of wins against NC Wesleyan and Pacific Lutheran. McCartney registered his second career two-goal game in Emory's 3-0 season opening win over the Battling Bishops and finished with team-highs in points (4), shots (8) and shots on goal (3).
