Emory Men's Soccer Nets Sixth Straight Win; Drubs Piedmont 5-2

The Emory University Men's Soccer team pushed its current winning streak to six games Tuesday night, earning a 5-2 victory on the road at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA.

Senior Jason McCartney collected two more goals while fellow seniors Christian Meyer, Adam Ferguson and junior Tyler Santee added to the Eagles' scoring in the three-goal win.

On the other side of the ball, the Emory defensive unit again flexed its muscles, holding the Lions to just two shots, both on target, with one shot coming on a penalty kick. The Eagles finished the contest with a 20-2 margin in shots over PC.

McCartney began the scoring in the 10th minute, scoring off a Cody Gardiner feed. Less than six minutes later, Ferguson doubled the Emory lead with a shot off the post from 35 yards out. Piedmont cut the deficit to one in the 33rd minute as Victor Munoz converted on a penalty kick.

The score remained at 2-1 until the 54th minute when Meyer found the back of the net for the first time on the season. Santee recorded his first goal as a member of the Eagles in the 67th minute with McCartney netting his second goal of the game while junior Moustafa Khattab collected his team-leading third assist.

Piedmont's Eddie Gasper closed out the scoring in the 73rd minute with Chase Kane earning the assist on the play.

Sophomore Trevor Stormes picked up his fourth win of the season, playing all 90 minutes between the posts.

Emory resumes play Saturday afternoon with a road matchup against No.-1 ranked University of Chicago. Play is set to begin at 11:00 AM local time.
