The Emory University Men's Soccer team erased an early two-goal deficit to tie Carnegie Mellon University, 2-2, Friday evening in Pittsburgh, PA.

With the draw, the Eagles moved to 3-1-1 in UAA play but slipped a half game behind Brandeis, Chicago and Rochester for the conference lead as all three programs were victorious on Friday. Emory will take on Case Western Reserve on Sunday while Rochester travels to Carnegie Mellon, Chicago ventures to Brandeis and NYU hosts WashU.

The Tartans gained an early two-goal lead, scoring less than two minutes apart in the 16th and 18th minutes. CMU first scored on a ball played in by Jamie Wheaton to Zack Masciopinto. An Eagle defender slid to clear it but the ball went right to the foot of Cooper Tubiana in the center of the penalty circle and he one-timed it past the right of Cole Gallagher.

CMU doubled its lead as Wheaton played another ball in to Masciopinto on the right side where Masciopinto turned, took a couple touches to his left and curled a left-footed shot around the defense and keeper.

Heading into the break down a pair, Emory quickly reversed its fortune in the second half netting the tying markers within the opening 11 minutes.

The Eagles cut the Carnegie Mellon lead to one as senior Christian Meyer played a low cross through the box from the right side. The cross skipped through the defense where junior Moustafa Khattab one-timed a shot from the penalty mark to the lower right corner. 

In the 56^th minute, junior Aidan Datené found the equalizer as he headed down a corner kick to the back post by Adam Ferguson where his shot skipped slowly across the line.

In the 103^rd minute, Ferguson had Emory's best scoring chance of the extra sessions, firing from straight on above the 18 but his shot just missed the left post.

In the 107^th minute, Gallagher made a highlight reel save, laying out to full extension to snag a Ryan Stinebaugh offering. A minute later, Masciopinto had another opportunity for the Tartans but just missed wide left.

Carnegie Mellon outshot the Eagles in the contest, 16-9, and also won the battle of the corner kicks, 7-6. CMU moved to 10-3-2 and 2-2-1 in the UAA with the tie.
