Late Goal Clinches Ciallella Classic Tournament Win for No. 8 Men's Soccer

A late header goal by senior Tyler Santee clinched a Ciallella Classic tournament win for the No. 8 Emory University Men's Soccer team on Sunday afternoon as the Eagles downed the host Rutgers-Camden University Scarlet Raptors by a 2-1 margin.

Senior Moustafa Khattab sent a free kick into the box where Santee redirected it to the far post to give the Eagles the lead for good in the 78th minute of the contest. The goal was Santee's second of the campaign and enabled him to claim tournament defensive MVP honors.

Sophomore Nate Sampson opened the scoring earlier in the second half, netting his first career goal in the 49th minute with a bullet off the crossbar following the feed from junior Jun Tsuru.

The lead was short lived as the Raptors answered with a goal by Brian Palangi five minutes later. Sophomore Cole Gallagher swatted away the ball off the R-C corner kick but the redirect went straight to Palangi outside the 18 where he drilled home the equalizer.

In addition to Santee, Tsuru was named the tournament's offensive MVP after collecting assists in both contests. Khattab and Gallagher each earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for the Eagles as well.

Emory looks to stay unbeaten when the teams hosts SUNY-Maritime and Millsaps from the Woodruff PE Center this upcoming Saturday and Sunday evenings.
