Emory Men's Soccer Senior Day Spoiled by #11 CWRU

The Emory University Men's Soccer team fell to 11th-ranked Case Western Reserve University, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in University Athletic Association action from the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles honored their five-member senior class of Aidan Datené, Moustafa Khattab, Tyler Santee, Michael Stier and Tyler Walsh with an on-field ceremony.

CWRU took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of play when Alex Besl received a cross from Marques Manta and took a leaping shot in the box and scored into the far corner. The goal was Besl's eighth of the season.

The Spartans added to their lead with a pair of penalty kicks with the first coming in the 23rd minute. Zachary Senft converted on his attempt to put CWRU in front 2-0 before Connor Webber capped off the scoring for the visiting Spartans in the 80th minute.

The Spartans defense kept Emory away from the goal, holding the 10-3 advantage in shots on goal on Sunday afternoon. Datené, junior Jun Tsuru and sophomore Josh Berman each recorded a shot on target for the Eagles.

Emory will close out the regular season with the UAA finale at 9th-ranked Rochester next Saturday, November 3rd, at 11:00 AM.
