Men's Soccer Ties #11/14 Rochester in Season Finale

The Emory University Men's Soccer team battled to a scoreless draw with No. 11/14-ranked University of Rochester Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The game was played at Fauver Stadium in Rochester, New York.

The Eagles defended well in the contest, holding the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard through 110 minutes despite being outshot 16-4. With the tie, the Eagles close out the season with a 9-7-2 overall record while Rochester moves to 12-2-2.

After no score through the first 45 minutes, UR had an excellent scoring opportunity in the 50th minute as Josh Cooley sent a shot on target but senior Tyler Santee was there on the line, saving it off his face to preserve the scoreless tie.

Sophomore Nate Sampson recorded the Eagles' first shot attempt in the 63rd before junior Jun Tsuru had one of the better chances for either side, firing a shot from range that clanked off the crossbar in the 79th minute.

Senior Moustafa Khattab and junior Keegan McCombie each had shots on goal in the final seven minutes of regulation but were denied by UR's Patrick Conway.

In the extra sessions, the Yellowjackets outshot Emory 5-0 including a pair of attempts on target in the second overtime period by Cooley and Zach Lawlor but was turned away by sophomore Cole Gallagher.

Gallagher finished with five saves on the afternoon to record his fifth shutout of the season. For UR, Conway made two stops in the draw.
