Men's Soccer Snaps Skid with 4-1 Win Over Mary Hardin-Baylor

The Emory University men's soccer team snapped its four-game winless streak with a dominating performance on Saturday, defeating Mary-Hardin Baylor 4-1 in Richardson, TX on the campus of UT-Dallas.

Junior Nate Sampson led the Eagles offense as the Milwaukee, WI native racked up his third and fourth goals of the season as he posted his second multi-goal game of the year. Senior Corey Levine and sophomore Ethan Cohen added tallies for the Eagles while freshman Alejandro Gomez paced the team with two assists.

The contest was a stalemate until Sampson supplied the offense with back-to-back goals 3:36 minutes apart deep in the first half. Sampson broke the scoreless tie at the 36:15 mark with a marker off the feed by Gomez before adding onto the Emory lead at the 39:51 mark on the assist by senior Jun Tsuru.

UMHB chipped the Eagles lead to one shortly after the teams returned the field after halftime as Tyler Childs found the back of the net at the 45:57 mark.

Levine distanced the Eagles from the Cru with his first goal of the year in the 54th minute as Gomez collected his second helper of the match. Cohen would go on to add the insurance goal in the 83rd minute with freshman Madison Conduah recording his first collegiate point with the assist on the play.

Sophomore Max Carlson improved to 1-0-1 as he made one save in the outing. The Eagles defense as a unit limited the Cru to six shots on the afternoon with only two being on goal.

Emory rounds out the weekend with another match in Richardson, TX on Sunday against No.-24 University of Texas at Dallas. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM EST.
