Emory Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw with NYU

Defense prevailed Sunday afternoon as the Emory University men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with New York University at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

The two team teams combined for 17 shots total across the 110 minutes of action with NYU outshooting the Eagles 9-8 including a 4-0 edge in shots on goal. Emory held NYU without a shot across both overtime periods.

After managing five shots in regulation, the Eagles saw three solid chances in the extra sessions with the first coming in the 93rd minute as junior Nate Sampson fired a bullet to the far post that missed by mere inches.

In the second overtime, junior Josh Berman had a header opportunity that sailed just wide off of a free kick in the 107th minute. Senior Jun Tsuru followed seconds later with a shot that was just outside as he looked to tuck it in the near post.

Sophomore Max Carlson made a total of four saves during the game as he recorded his second clean sheet of the year.

The Eagles, now sitting 9-5-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the UAA, head into the final weekend of the season as the University of Rochester travels to Atlanta on Saturday, November 9th. Prior to the start of the match at 1:30 PM, the Eagles will honor their senior class of Tsuru, Corey Levine, Keegan McCombie, William Jones, Trevor Stormes and Jimmy Tricolli.
