Emory University's Andrew Wilson enjoyed an auspicious debut on Thursday at the Phillips 66 National Swimming Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
Wilson topped the field in the 100-meter breaststroke prelims, posting a time of 59.68 seconds, the lone competitor out of 83 entries to crack the one-minute mark and which would have qualified for the 2012 Olympic Team.
Wilson will take his top-seeded time into the finals on Thursday evening, with the 100-meter breaststroke slated to start at approximately 8:00 pm (EDT).
Wilson is also scheduled to swim in the 200-meter breaststroke later on in the Championships.
