Andrew Wilson Finishes as U.S. National Runner-Up in 50 Breaststroke

Andrew Wilson finished as the national runner-up Thursday night in the 50 Breaststroke at the Phillips 66 National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Wilson posted a new personal-best mark in the championship final at 27.18 and was just edged out by an arm's length to 2016 Olympian Kevin Cordes who set a new championship record with a mark of 26.88. Rounding out the top four was another 2016 Olympian, Cody Miller, in third at 27.24 followed by Connor Hoppe in fourth at 27.28. Wilson's time was the 10th fastest swam in the world so far this year.

During the morning's prelims, Wilson posted the second fastest time at 27.29, trailing only Cordes at 26.89.

Wilson will have another shot at qualifying for the World Championships on Friday in the 100 Breaststroke. Prelims begin at 10:55 AM and can be seen live on USASwimming.org.
