Men's Swimming & Diving Leads Home Invitational After Day One

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving team opened the Emory Invitational on Friday with three event victories en route to building a 59-point lead. The Eagles tallied 297 points on day one of competition and leads Wingate (238), Carson-Newman (231) and Catawba (124) in the team standings.

Senior Trey Kolleck nabbed the lone individual event win for the Eagles and swam the final lap in both of the team's relay victories on the evening. Kolleck finished first in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 46.12 and helped Emory to first place showings in the 200 Free Relay (1:22.76) with seniors Matt Rogers, Zachary Chen and junior Sage Ono and in the 400 Medley Relay (3:23.40) with Ono and freshmen Hwa Min Sim and Tyler Russell.

In addition to the three event wins, Emory registered 10 individual top-five finishes to help establish a sizeable lead heading into Saturday. Adding top-five efforts for the Eagles were freshman Zach Lorson (2nd, 1:54.26), Chen (4th, 1:55.12) and freshman Jack Kelleher (5th, 1:55.70) in the 200 IM, freshmen Jason Hamilton (3rd, 4:40.96) and Pat Pema (4th, 4:41.38) in the 500 Freestyle, Russell in the 100 Breaststroke (3rd, 58.09), Rogers (3rd, 1:53.62) and Pema (5th, 1:54.46) in the 200 Backstroke, Ono (2nd, 46.63) and senior Alex Kohlman (5th, 47.64) in the 100 Freestyle and junior Evan Brock (4th, 1:55.33) and freshman Will Schuler (5th, 1:55.73) in the 200 Butterfly.

Emory rounds out its home invitational Saturday morning with day two of competition featuring the 200 Medley Relay, 1,650 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 400 IM and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Action begins at 11:00 AM inside the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center at the Woodruff PE Center.
