Men's Swimming & Diving Claims Five Event Wins in Dual Meet At Florida Southern

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving opened the spring semester Friday evening with a dual meet defeat to Division II Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida.

In the swimming only meet, the Eagles were able to secure five event victories of the 14 contested, narrowly falling to the Mocs by a score of 148-114. In addition to the five wins, Emory recorded six second place finishes and seven third place efforts. For full results, please click here.

Senior Trey Kolleck nabbed a pair of solo wins to lead the Eagles on the evening, sweeping both sprint freestyles with winning times of 21.15 in the 50 Free and 46.20 in the 100 Free. Classmate Thomas Gordon made his return to the pool to win the 1,000 Freestyle, touching at 9:38.75. And in the 200 Breaststroke, freshman Ethan Sternberg rounded out the individual winners, taking first with a mark of 2:11.78.

Kolleck added a win for Emory as a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay as he, senior Zachary Chen, junior Sage Ono and freshman Colin LaFave recording a winning time of 1:25.02.

Gordon was one of five Eagles to earn second place showings at the meet with his time of 4:44.20 in the 500 Free. Adding second place finishes were freshman Zach Lorson in 1000 Free (9:45.19), sophomore Kellen Stillman in the 200 Freestyle (1:44.65), LaFave in the 100 Backstroke (53.19) and freshman Lawrence Redmond in the 200 Backstroke (1:56.12). The Eagles also took silver in the 400 Medley Relay as Kolleck, Ono and freshmen Tyler Russell and Hwa Min Sim finished with a time of 3:28.96.

The Eagles continue their dual meet portion of the schedule next Saturday against Delta State. Action from Pensacola, Florida is set to begin at 8:30 AM EST.
