Fiona Muir & Zach Lorson Sweep UAA Weekly Swimming Honors

Emory University swimmers senior Fiona Muir and freshman Zach Lorson were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Denison Invitational. The weekly honor marks the second of the season and seventh overall for Muir while this is the first career honor for Lorson.

Muir impressed for the Eagles, winning all three individual events and assisting on two relay victories to help the Emory women to a third place team finish at the meet. She swept all three solo freestyle events she swam in, posting winning and NCAA B Cut marks of 22.98 in the 50, 49.50 in the 100 and 1:48.51 in the 200 and in the relays, she swam the anchor leg in the winning 400 FR (3:22.90) and 800 FR (7:24.92) while adding a second place showing in the 200 Free Relay (1:33.02) and a fourth place effort in the 400 Medley Relay (3:45.70).

On the men's side, Lorson helped the Eagles to a second place team finish, winning one event and recording four NCAA B Cuts in total. In his lone event win, Lorson set the school record in the 400 IM with a winning time of 3:51.86 and added a second place effort in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:33.55. Lorson also turned in a fifth place effort in the 200 IM (1:50.69) and was sixth in the 200 Breast (2:02.76).

The Eagles return to the pool when the calendar flips to 2019, facing Florida Southern on the road in a dual meet on January 11th.
