Emory Swimming & Diving Hosts Queens University of Charlotte in Dual Meet

The Emory University Swimming and Diving teams hosted Division II stalwart Queens University of Charlotte Saturday afternoon in the second dual meet of the season. The Eagles posted four event wins on the men’s side while the Emory women claimed seven second place finishes on the afternoon.

For the men, senior Trey Kolleck highlighted the Eagles as he was responsible for two of the team’s four wins on Saturday. Kolleck took first in both the sprint freestyles, touching the wall at 20.26 in the 50 Free and 45.25 in the 100 Free. Sophomore Sage Ono added an event win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 51.53 as did freshman Will Schuler in the 200 Butterfly, swimming a mark of 1:56.32. The Eagles added eight second place efforts led by senior Thomas Gordon taking silver in the 500 Free (4:40.57) and 1,000 Free (9:31.68).

On the women’s side, sophomore Lucy Daro put forth a strong showing for the Eagles, earning three of the team’s seven second place finishes, turning in marks of 1:53.70 in the 200 Free, 52.57 in the 100 Free and 57.81 in the 100 Fly. Adding second place showings was senior Fiona Muir in the 50 Freestyle (24.22), freshman Gaige Elms in the 200 Backstroke (2:07.14) and freshman Clio Hancock in the 400 IM (4:30.19). Emory rounded out the meet taking second in the 200 Free Relay as Muir, Daro, senior Meg Taylor and sophomore Christy Taylor clocked in at 1:37.09.

The Eagles will be off this weekend before hosting the Emory Invitational on November 2nd and 3rd at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center.
