After two second place finishes at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials last week, former Emory University swimmer Andrew Wilson has been formally announced as part of the United States Olympic roster for the upcoming Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan as the Team USA swimming rosters were unveiled Monday morning.
He will be one of 25 American men vying to earn Gold for the Red, White and Blue during next month's competition as Wilson is set to compete individually in both the 100m and 200m Breaststrokes. Of the 25 swimmers on the men's roster, Wilson is one of eight to qualify in multiple individual events. Last Monday (June 14), he earned second and the first of his Olympic berths in a thriller of a race in the 100m, which came down to a photo finish. Wilson nearly won the race with a personal-best time of 58.74 but was edged out at the wall by a fingertip to Michael Andrew (58.73). Later in the week, Wilson captured his second Olympic event berth in the 200m, posting a time of 2:08.32.
The Bethesda, Maryland native is believed to be the first Division III swimmer to ever qualify for Team USA in Olympic history.

The Tokyo games are scheduled to get underway Friday, July 23 with the Opening Ceremonies with the swimming competition then to take place Saturday, July 24 through Sunday, August 1.
