Junior Ian Wagner turned in a perfect 4-0 record in singles play
last week as the No. 7-ranked Eagles captured two of four
matches.
Wagner captured all four of his matches at No. 5 singles and went
2-2 at No. 1 doubles as the Eagles ventured to California for four
matches.
In a match against Azusa Pacific, the No. 11-ranked team in
Division II, Wagner recorded a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Tomas Aranguiz
in singles action before joining up with classmate Alex Ruderman
for an 8-5 triumph over Jan Meyer & Pascal Engel.
Wagner continued his winning ways with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3
come-from-behind verdict over Brad Entwistle in aiding in Emory's
8-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus at the Stag-Hen Invitational in
Claremont, California. In the team's next outing, vs. No.
1-ranked Washington University, Wagner accounted for one of the
team's three points with a 6-2, 6-1 outcome over Tyler Krakty.
Wagner then capped off a perfect week of singles with a 7-5, 7-5
decision against Kyle Wolstencroft of Bowdoin College, while
teaming with Ruderman for a doubles victory as the Eagles prevailed
by an 8-1 count.
Wagner stands 11-1 in singles play this spring, 9-0 at the No. 5
position.
