The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Championships following a Sunday afternoon victory over Sewanee.  The Eagles won their 11th straight match and boosted their overall record to 19-4 following a 5-0 decision over the No. 22-ranked Tigers who closed out their year at 22-4.  Emory served as the host site for this weekend's opening rounds.

Emory emerged with a 3-0 lead after an intense doubles competition.  Sophomore Adrien Bouchet and junior Max Renke earned the first point of the match at No. 2 with an 8-4 triumph over Andres Carro and Jordan Brewer, their third consecutive win and 16^th in 22 decisions on the year.  Shortly after, the Eagles' No. 1 team of junior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding saw their overall record improve to 18-9 after they came away with an 8-3 victory that pushed Emory to a 2-0 advantage.  At third doubles, junior David Omsky and sophomore Jonathan Jemison closed out the sweep, grinding to an 8-6 outcome over Avery Schober and Aubrey Davis, lifting their spring slate to 11-4.

Jemison put Emory one point from sealing the match with a 6-1, 6-2, verdict vs. Carro at No. 2 singles, raising his record to 23-5 on the year.  Senior Josh Goodman then gave Emory its 26^th national quarterfinal appearance in 28 years when he bettered Davis at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2, boosting his season ledger to 19-5.

Emory will meet No. 10-ranked Williams College (15-7) in the quarterfinal round, with that contest taking place on Monday, May 22, at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
