A day after helping Emory to a national team title, the Emory University tandem of junior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding recorded a victory in their opening match at the NCAA D-III Men's Doubles Championships. The event is being held at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Rubinstein and Spaulding, the No. 3 seed in the 16-team field, defeated Kai Yuen Leung and John Wynne of Skidmore College, 6-2, 6-3, raising their season record to 21-10.  The Eagles' duo advance into Friday's quarterfinals where they will match up against Erik Kerrigan and Ninan Kumar of the University of Chicago or Southwestern University's Grant Gideon or Nickoloz Snovely.

In singles, senior Aman Manji closed out his career with a setback in his opening-round match against Luke Tercek of Bowdoin College, 3-6, 1-6.  Manji finished the season with an overall singles mark of 28-7, with his victory total tying the program's sixth-highest seasonal mark.  Career-wise, Manji totaled 66 singles victories, good for 23^rd place on the school's all-time chart.

Sophomore Jonathan Jemison, unseeded in the 32-player singles field, posted a tough three-set win over Skidmore's Leung, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) in his first-round test.  However, Jemison was defeated in the Round of 16 by Chicago's Erik Kerrigan, 4-6, 0-6, ending his season with a record of 27-6.
