Emory Tennis Trio Tabbed For UAA Honors

Emory junior Jonathan Jemison (Marietta, GA), classmate Adrien Bouchet (Oakton, VA) and freshman Will Wanner (Lancaster, PA) have been recognized by the University Athletic Association as Players of the Week following their performances at the ITA South Region Championships.  It is the fifth time in Jemison's career that he has been selected for the honor, the second for Bouchet and the first for Wanner.

Jemison rattled off six wins in the Main Draw, becoming the 11th Eagle over the past 12 years to bring home the singles crown. On the final day of action, he defeated freshman teammate Hayden Cassone in the semifinals, 7-6, 6-3, before bettering sophomore teammate Rex Serituk, 6-4, 6-2, in the final. It was the second straight year that Jemison had advanced to the championship match and his first title.

Jonathan's effort over the weekend upped his career singles win total to 60, good for 26th place on the program's all-time ladder.

Bouchet and Wanner played their way to the doubles championship, defeating five tandems along the way. In the semifinals, Bouchet and Wanner got by the No. 1-seeded team of teammates Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding, 8-2, before topping Jemison and Cassone, 7-6, 6-3, in the title showdown.

By virtue of their first-place finishes, the trio capture All-America honors, and will advance to the ITA Oracle Cup (formerly Small College Championships), Oct. 11-15, in Rome, Georgia.
