Emory Men's Tennis Strong At Grizzly Open

The Emory men's tennis program will have one singles player in the finals and one doubles team in the semifinals on Sunday at the Grizzly Open in nearby Lawrenceville.  Hosting the Grizzly Open is Georgia Gwinnett College.

Freshman Hayden Cassone will square off against unattached performer Ayed Zatar in the singles showdown starting at 10:30 am. Cassone opened with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over teammate Alec Rabinowitz in the quarterfinals before defeating Sergio Vallinotti from Georgia Gwinnett in the semifinals.

The No. 1-seeded duo of senior Scott Rubinstein and junior James Spaulding played their way into the semis after winning twice on Saturday. The pair chalked up an 8-4 verdict against Emmanuel College's Enrique Alcacer and Juan Carlos Romero in the Round of 16 before bettering Toby de Klerk and Yago Fernandez from Tusculum College, 9-7.  Rubinstein and Spaulding clash with Federico Barbon and Samuel Blackburn from Point College at 9:00 am.
