The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team continued its winning ways on Friday afternoon, defeating Millsaps College in a match played on the Woodruff PE Center Outdoor Courts.  The Eagles raised their overall record to 7-1 following an 8-1 decision over the Majors who slipped to 6-3.

After dropping the first point of the match at No. 1 doubles, Emory responded by capturing the next eight matches.   At second doubles, senior Max Renke and junior Adrien Bouchet boosted their record to 6-1 after their 8-6 triumph over Diego Marti-Vertiz and Brandon Beck knotted the match score at 1-1.  Shortly after, junior Jonathan Jemison and freshman Hayden Cassone gave the Eagles the lead for good after they came away with an 8-5 verdict against Cameron Doles and Jacob Niehaus, their 10th triumph in 12 outings during the year.

In singles, Emory posted straight-set victories in all six matches.  Junior James Spaulding pocketed the first singles point at No. 5, blanking Niehaus, 6-0, 6-0, while Jemison saw his season record improve to 12-5 after dispatching Marti-Vertiz, 6-1, 6-1.  Other singles winners included Cassone at No. 2, senior Alex Josepher at No. 3, Bouchet at No. 4 and sophomore Rex Serituk at No. 6.

The Eagles will embark on a California trip over spring break, beginning with a Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 14) bout at Azusa Pacific University, the No. 6-ranked squad in the Division II ranks.  After matching up against Wesleyan (CT) the following day in Claremont, Calif., the following day, Emory closes out its West Coast swing with a Friday match against No. 16 Trinity (TX.).
