Emory Men's Tennis Holds #1 Seed Heading Into UAA Championships

The No. 1-ranked Emory University men's tennis team will pack its bags and head to Florida to compete in the University Athletic Association Championships.  The competition runs Thursday through Saturday (Apr. 26-28), and will be held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs.

The Eagles of head coach John Browning, 14-3 (12-1 in D-III) on the year, enter the Championships as the No. 1 seed and will battle No. 8-seed Rochester (7-11) at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.   The winner of that contest advances to the semifinals on Friday to meet the victor of the No. 4-seed Washington University (13-7) vs. No. 5-seed Brandeis (13-3) affair.   Other first-round match-ups will see No. 2-seed Chicago (13-4) take on No. 7-seed New York University
(5-7) and No. 3-seed Carnegie Mellon (13-5) square off against No. 6-seed Case Western Reserve (15-9).  The championship match will be held on Sunday beginning at 9:00 am.

Emory has captured the last three and 26 of the 30 UAA titles and is aiming to bring home its Last season, the Eagles bested Washington University, 8-1, in the title clash.

As usual, the UAA Championships certainly shape up as a competitive event.  Including Emory, four squads are ranked among the top 10 ranked D-III programs nationally including Chicago (#3), Carnegie Mellon (#9) and Washington University (#10).  Conference schools rounding out the top-40 ranked teams are Brandeis (#17) and Case Western Reserve (#18).
