Men's Tennis Down NC Wesleyan, 5-0, to Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals

The Emory University Men's Tennis team is headed back to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals following a 5-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan Sunday afternoon at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

The Eagles, now 18-4 on the campaign, advance to their 27th national quarterfinal in 29 seasons including their 21st consecutive appearance in the Round of Eight. The Battling Bishops see their season conclude with a 19-4 overall record.

Emory opened to a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles, taking all three matches in convincing fashion. Senior Andrew Harrington and freshman Hayden Cassone put the Eagles on the board first with an 8-4 decision on court three. The Eagles rounded out doubles action with identical 8-3 victories on court one by senior Scott Rubinstein and junior James Spaulding and on court two by juniors Adrien Bouchet and Jonathan Jemison.

In singles play, Rubeinstein dominated at sixth singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win before senior Alec Josepher clinched the match with his 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles. At the conclusion of the match, Emory held leads at both first and fourth singles with Jemison in front 7-6 (3), 1-0 on court one and Bouchet leading 6-3, 3-1 on court four.

The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships Quarterfinals begin on Monday, May 21st at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California.
