Emory's Scott Rubinstein And Hayden Cassone Earn ITA Regional Recognition

Senior Scott Rubinstein (Madison, CT) and freshman Hayden Cassone (South Salem, NY) of the Emory University Men's Tennis team have been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with Atlantic South Regional Awards.

Rubinstein was named the Atlantic South Senior Player of the Year. So far this season, he has teamed with junior James Spaulding to post a 19-11 doubles record while also registering a 13-8 mark in singles play, which includes a 12-6 effort during the spring portion of the schedule. The tandem of Rubinstein and Spaulding are two-time All-Americans and enter Monday's quarterfinals of the NCAA D-III Championships as the No. 4-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region.  Rubinstein stands 10th all-time on the school's career ladder with 73 doubles wins.  During his stint with the program, he helped the Eagles to three UAA titles and four appearances in the NCAA D-III Championships.

Cassone, named the Atlantic South Region Rookie of the Year, has had a big impact on the team, compiling an overall singles record of 24-5, with his win total tops on the squad and 21st on the Eagles' seasonal chart.  Named a First Team All-University Athletic Association performer at No. 2 singles, Cassone has fashioned a 9-3 ledger at that position en route to a 16-3 mark during the spring portion of the schedule. Cassone has figured prominently in doubles as well, chalking up a 25-4 performance.

Both players, including Spaulding in doubles and junior Jonathan Jemison in singles, will be representing the Eagles at the NCAA Individual Championships next week following the team championships in Claremont, California.
