Emory senior Jonathan Jemison (Marietta, GA) has been recognized by the University Athletic Association as Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after helping the Eagles to a 2-1 record over a three-match stretch. It is the third time during the 2018-19 campaign and 10th occasion in his career that he has received the honor.
Jemison went 1-1 at No. 1 singles with his win coming over Georgia Gwinnett College's (#1 ranked team in NAIA) Ayed Zatar, 6-2, 6-2. The victory upped Jemison's season record to 8-2 and raised his career win total to 81, tying him with Alex Ruderman (2011-15) for 10th place on the school's all-time ladder.
In doubles, Jemison teamed with Adrien Bouchet to record a 3-0 slate at the No. 1 spot. Highlighting the duo's effort with an 8-6 verdict over Georgia Gwinnett's tandem of Valentino Caratini and Zatar.
Jemison and his teammates return to action this weekend (Feb. 22-24) when they look to defend Emory's title at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.
