Emory Men's Tennis Returns Home For Weekend Action

Weather permitting, the No. 4-ranked Emory men's tennis team will open outdoor action this weekend (Mar. 9-10) when it welcomes a pair of opponents to the Woodruff PE Center. On Saturday (Mar. 9), the Eagles will battle Trinity University (TX) in a 2:00 pm start before closing out the brief home stand with a Sunday afternoon match against the University of the Cumberlands (KY) starting at 3:00 pm.

The Eagles of Head Coach John Browning post a dual slate of 4-2 following a runner-up effort at last weekend's ITA National Indoor Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Emory blanked both No. 13 Whitman and No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer in its opening two matches before seeing a bid for a fourth straight indoor crown fall short after dropping a 5-3 verdict to third-ranked Chicago in the finals.

Coached by Russell McMindes, the 17th-ranked Tigers of Trinity come to Atlanta with a record of 5-5.  In its most recent outings, Trinity split a pair of March 1 matches, defeating Laredo Community College, 4-3, while coming out on the short end of a 7-0 score to Incarnate Word.

Ranked 20th in the NAIA ranks, Cumberlands heads into a Saturday match-up against Lindsey Wilson College with a 3-1dual ledger.  The Patriots are coached by Chin Tan.
