Emory Men's Tennis Defeats Kalamazoo College

The Emory men's tennis team maintained its winning way on Friday, posting a victory over Kalamazoo College at the Woodruff PE Center.  The No. 3-ranked Eagles won for the fifth straight time and upped their dual record to 9-2 following an 8-1 triumph over the No. 27 Hornets who fell to 3-4.

Emory led, 3-0, after a dominating display in doubles.  Seniors Jonathan Jemison and Adrien Bouchet blanked Ian Yi and Daniel Henry, 8-0, boosting their season record to 16-4 (8-3 at the No. 1 spot). Sophomore Hayden Cassone and freshman Antonio Mora continued their inspired play at the No. 3 post, rolling to an 8-3 decision over Casey Johnson and Allen Vinson, which improved their dual record to 7-2.  At second doubles, senior James Spaulding and junior Will Wanner won for the 10th time in 11 decisions with an 8-3 outcome vs. Zack Ray and Tytus Metzler.

Mora put the Eagles ahead by a 4-0 count after dispatching Vinson, 6-0, 6-2, at four singles.  Shortly after, freshman Sahil Raina sealed the victory at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-0, verdict over Johnson, which improved his season ledger to 12-2.  Other Emory singles winners included Bouchet at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4 over Metzler), Jemison at No. 1 (6-4, 7-6 vs. Yi) and freshman Andrew Esses at No. 5, 6-2, 6-3, against Alex Cadigan.
