Emory senior Jonathan Jemison (Marietta, GA) has been recognized by the University Athletic Association as Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after helping the Eagles to a pair of wins over South Region foes. It is the fourth time during the 2018-19 campaign and 11th occasion in his career that he has received the honor.
Jemison teamed with classmate Adrien Bouchet to go 2-0 at No. 1 doubles while coming away with one win in his lone action at No. 1 singles.
In a 7-2 outcome over Sewanee, Jemison and Bouchet played their way to an 8-6 verdict over Aubrey Davis and Jordan Brewer. The Eagles' duo followed that with a decisive 8-3 win the following day against Washington and Lee's Bobby Neuner and Mitchell Thomas. It added to Jemison's school record of 99 doubles wins during his career. In singles, Jemison earned a 6-3, 7-5 decision over Harry Shepherd, boosting his season slate to 19-3. In addition, it allowed Jemison to move into fifth place on the program's all-time ladder with 92 singles wins. Emory bettered the Generals by an 8-1 count.
The wins over Sewanee and W&L raised Emory's dual mark to 14-2.
