The Emory University men's tennis team played its first home match in over a year (Mar. 7, 2020) on Wednesday afternoon, battling Georgia Gwinnett College at the Woodruff PE Center Outdoor Courts. The Golden Grizzlies topped the Eagles by a 7-2 margin, raising their record to 20-0 on the year while capturing their 143rd straight win. Emory fell to 4-2.
The No. 3 doubles team of Andrew Esses and Sahil Raina, playing together for the first time this spring, accounted for the team's initial point when they came through with a gritty 9-7 outcome against Jose Dugo and Alex Gurmendi. In singles, junior Pushkar Shinde earned a point when his opponent at No.5 Valentino Caratini, retired in the second set.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday (May 1) when they host Tennessee Wesleyan in a match that is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm.
