Emory Men's Tennis Tops John Carroll In NCAA Tourney Second-Round Match

The Emory men's tennis team opened the postseason on a successful note Saturday, defeating John Carroll University in the second round of the NCAA D-III Championships.  Serving as the host site for this weekend's action is the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.

The Eagles got off to a solid start by sweeping doubles. The No. 3 tandem of Andrew Esses and Sahil Raina rolled to an 8-1 decsion over Adi Jha and Parker Holyn.  At first doubles, Hayden Cassone and Nolan Shah teamed up for the first time this spring to post an 8-2 triumph over the Blue Streaks' duo of Mark Beebe and Logan Langovsky.  Will Wanner and Alec Rabinowitz also played doubles for the initial time and emerged with an 8-4 victory at No. 2 against Doug Moore and Andrew Triner.

Playing to decision, the Eagles needed to wins to seal the outcome and they got those from Wanner at No. 3, a 6-0, 6-0 outcome vs. Grant Sarnowski, and Shah at No. 4, 6-1,  6-0, over Triner.

Emory, 6-3 on the season, will match-up with Babson (7-0) in Sunday's third-round match.  The winner will advance to the national quarterfinals, May 24, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
