Nolan Shah Named to CSC Academic All-America First Team

Emory University men's tennis junior Nolan Shah was honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization Wednesday afternoon by being selected to the Academic All-America First Team.

Shah makes his first-ever appearance on the CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team and is now the 11th men's tennis player to earn the honor and the first since Aman Manji in 2017.

Shah becomes the 10th Emory Eagle to be selected as a CSC Academic All-American this academic calendar, the most in a single-season since 2015-16, and now brings the total to 208 Academic All-Americans in the history of the Athletics department.

Shah is coming off a junior season in which he helped the Eagles reach the national quarterfinals, recording a team-best 20 singles victories and was third on the team with 17 doubles wins. Shah captured All-America acclaim in both singles and doubles and was named as an All-UAA Honorable Mention in doubles. In the fall he swept both ITA South Regional singles and doubles titles and this month, was one of two Eagles to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships reaching the Round of 16 in singles.

In his career, Shah owns a 43-12 record in singles and a 40-19 mark in doubles. As a sophomore, he claimed All-America honors for the first time in his career after teaming with Andrew Esses to reach the doubles championship match at the NCAA Championships.

Shah was one of two from men's tennis to be tabbed to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this month, along with classmate Ryan Glanville, and proceeded to be placed on the All-America ballot for voting. CSC Academic All-America Teams are nominated and voted on by College Sport Communicators and Sports Information Directors across all Division III institutions.

The CSC Academic All-America team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a key member of their respective teams, maintain a 3.50 grade point average, be of sophomore standing or higher, and have attended their current institutions for at least one year.
