Ian Wagner joined the Emory University men's and women's tennis program as a volunteer coach for the 2015-16 season.

Wagner, a native of Columbus, OH, graduated from Emory in the spring of 2015 earning undergraduate degrees in both Physics and Mathematics.

He enjoyed a tremendous four-year career for the Eagles’ men’s tennis program. During his freshman season, Wagner was part of the third ever men’s tennis national championship team in school history. He went 24-4 in singles play as a rookie, the first of three straight seasons with 20 or more singles wins. As a sophomore, Wagner and doubles partner Elliot Kahler captured the first ever NCAA Division III doubles title in program history and in the fall of his senior year, Wagner and doubles partner Alex Ruderman won the ITA South Region Doubles Championship.

Wagner was a two-time All-American, a two-time All-UAA First Team selection and was named a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large honoree as a junior. He received the Sonny Carter Scholarship as well during his junior year, which is presented annually to an Emory College of Arts and Sciences junior who demonstrates a commitment to developing his or her full human potential, and who clearly strives to use his or her intellectual, physical, and moral qualities for the common good. As a senior, Wagner was a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, a prestigious honor granted to graduating athletes for their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

He finished his career ranked fourth in Emory history with 86 doubles victories, sixth with 88 wins in singles competition and 10^th with a .778 singles winning percentage (88-25).
