(May 31) Rob Leventhal concluded his first-ever individual appearance at the NCAA Division III national outdoor track & field championships. Leventhal, a sophomore, finished 14th out of 16 competitors in the 800-meter run. He ran a time of one minute and 54.75 seconds, his sixth fastest of the season. Leventhal recorded the team's top nine times in the event this season. Leventhal ends the season with seven of the top 20 times in school history in the event. He is the third-fastest Emory individual ever in the event, thanks to his personal-best time of 1:52.48 at the Georgia Tech meet earlier this month.
(May 16) For the fourth time this season, Rob Leventhal of Emory University provisionally qualified for the NCAA national championships in the 800-meter run. This time he did it with a career-best time of one minute and 52.48 seconds at the Georgia Tech Invitational. That is the 10th-fastest time in the nation in Division III this season and the 11th fastest in school history. Leventhal finished 28th out of 72 runners at Georgia Tech while representing the only Division III school in the race.
(May 9) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished third out of 15 runners in the 800-meter ran at the Clemson Meet, losing only to NCAA Division I athletes. His time of 1 minute and 52.82 seconds is his third provisional qualifying time for the NCAA national meet this season. Leventhal has the eighth-fastest time in the nation in the 800-meter run this season and the second-fastest time in the South region, according to southregionrunning.com.
(April 25) Emory University senior Blake Staub finished first in two events at the University Athletic Association (UAA) outdoor championships. He won the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.01 seconds. This is his second career all-conference honor in the event. He finished second in the 100-meter dash in 2003. Staub ran a leg on the 4x100-meter relay that won the event this year with a time of 43.08 seconds. He earned all-conference honors all four years in the event, winning it for three consecutive seasons and finishing second in 2002. Staub is part of a relay that holds the conference record and he was a 2004 All-American in the event. Staub finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.18 seconds. This time makes him the eighth-fastest performer in school history in the event. Staub finishes his outdoor career with seven all-UAA performances.
(April 18) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished second
out of 18 runners in the 800-meter run at the Clemson Invitational,
losing only to a former NCAA Division I national champion. His time
of 1 minute and 52.71 seconds is a career-best and is his second
provisional qualifying time this season for the NCAA national meet.
With this time, Leventhal is the third-fastest individual performer
in school history in this event. He has the sixth-fastest time in
Division III in this event this season. Leventhal has the fastest
time in the conference in the 800-meter run this season and is the
defending conference champion in the event.
(April 11) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished second out of 130 runners in the 800-meter run at the Duke Invitational, losing only to a NCAA Division I runner. His season-best time of 1 minute and 53.54 seconds provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA national championships. Leventhal currently has the fourth-fastest time in the nation in the event. Last season, he won the 800-mter run at the conference championships.
(April 4) Emory University sophomore Drew Harbur finished in the top seven in two events at the Emory Classic. He finished fifth out of 18 competitors in the hammer throw with a career-best throw of 40.48 meters (132 feet, 10 inches). This throw makes him the sixth-best individual performer in school history in the event. Harbur finished seventh out of 24 athletes in the javelin throw with a career-best throw of 48.25 meters (158 feet, 4 inches), making him the seventh-best individual performer in Emory history in the event. Last season, Harbur finished sixth at the conference championships in the javelin throw.
(March 28) Emory University team captain Andrew Seidenberg finished in the top six in four events at the Emory Invitational. In the 100-meter dash, he finished fifth out of 38 runners with a career-best time of 11.10 seconds. Seidenberg finished fifth out of 44 runners in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.26 seconds. This time makes him the eighth-fastest individual performer in school history in this event. He also ran a leg on the 400-meter relay team that finished second out of nine teams with a time of 42.50 seconds. This time is only 0.50 seconds from provisonally qualifying for the NCAA national meet. Seidenberg ran on the 1600-meter relay team that finished sixth out of 16 teams with a time of 3:26.85. In total, Seidenberg was responsible for one-fifth of the team's points at the meet.
(Feb. 28) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal won the 800-meter run at the University Athletic Association indoor championships, defeating a 2004 indoor All-American by more than two seconds. His time of one minute and 53.74 seconds is a career best and the third-fastest time in school history in the event. This is his fourth 800-meter run victory this season. Leventhal's time is the 12th-fastest in the nation this season and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA national meet March 11-12. Leventhal also ran a leg on the distance medley relay team that finished fourth with a time of 10:16.68. That time broke the school record in the event by nearly ten seconds.
(Feb. 21) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished first out of 12 runners in the 800-meter run at the Ohio Northern Invitational. His time of 1 minute and 56.06 seconds is an indoor career best. This is his third 800-meter run victory this season. He is the first Eagle runner since 1996 to have at least three sub-1:57 performances in one season. Leventhal has the third fastest 800-meter time in the conference this season and is only 1.06 seconds from the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
(Feb. 7) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished fifth out of 25 runners in the 800-meter run at the North Carolina Invitational. His time of 1 minute and 57.25 seconds was the best NCAA non-Division I time in the event. Last season Leventhal finished fourth at the conference indoor championships in the 800-meter run.
(Jan. 24) Emory University sophomore Rob Leventhal finished first out of 55 runners in the unseeded 800-meter run at the East Tennessee State Invitational. His time of 1 minute and 56.22 seconds is an indoor career-best time in this event. Last season Leventhal finished fourth at the UAA indoor championships in the 800-meter run.
(Dec. 6) Emory University senior Anthony Caponiti finished fourth out of 22 runners in the 800-meter run at the Clemson Early Bird meet. He also ran on the Eagles' 1600-meter relay team. His time of 1 minute and 59.86 seconds in the 800-meter run is a career-best in the event by more than two seconds. He ran in the 800-meter run last season at the UAA indoor championships.
