Athletes of the Week

(March 17) Drew Harbur claimed to first-place finishes this past weekend at the Emory Mini Meet. Harbur won the hammer throw with a throw of 159-07, while also taking first in the javelin at 163-10.


(March 10) Rob Leventhal achieved his top time of the year in the men's 800 meters this past Saturday at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.  Leventhal crossed the finish line in a time of 1:54.18, competing mainly against Division I athletes.  Overall he finished second in the event.    


(April 3) For the second week in a row, junior Rob Leventhal won an event.  At the Emory Track Classic, he took home top honors in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.29 for his second victory of the season.


(March 27) Track - Junior Rob Leventhal won the 1500 meter run this past weekend at the Emory Invitational to open the 2006 outdoor season.  He won the event in a time of 4:01.02.

(March 27) Field - Junior Drew Harbur led all Emory field event competitors this past weekend at the Emory Invitational, finishing third in the hammer throw with a distance of 145.04.00.  


(March 6) Rob Leventhal turned in a solid performance this past weekend at the UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Chicago, Ill., finishing second in the 800 meter dash with a time of 1:54.65.  Leventhal's mark stands as a provisional mark for the Indoor National Championships.


(Feb. 27) Jim LePorte competed in the Sewanee Indoor Invitational this past weekend and turned in his top time of the year in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.84, which is also the second-fastest time this season by an Eagle. He also competed in the long jump where he finished seventh at 19-08.00, which marks his top mark for the season.


(Feb. 13) Emory junior Drew Harbur finished eighth in the men's 35 lb. weight throw this past Friday at the Carolina Classic.  Harbur finished with a 46'6-1/4" for his second best throw of the season.  His top throw came at the Tennessee State Invitational with a 49'5-3/4."


(Feb. 6) Jordan Knight won the pole vault at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Sewanee, University of the South. Knight cleared 13'0" establishing a new personal record for the indoor event.


(Jan. 30) Drew Harbur recorded an impressive personal record while placing fourth in the weight throw at the Tennessee State University Invitational.  His throw of 49' 5.75" (15.08m) was a personal best by over 12 feet.  His performance moves him to second in Emory's all-time rankings in the weight throw.  Harbur placed third out of the collegiate competitors, and was less than an inch away from second place.


(Jan. 23) Rob Leventhal placed 16th in the seeded 800 meter race at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University.  Rob ran 1:57.46 which was the fastest time in the UAA at the time of his race last Friday.
