Emory University senior James Bassen set a conference and school record in the javelin throw at the 2015 University Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Georgia last weekend.  Bassen’s throw of 61.87 meters, the sixth-best in Division III this season, broke the previous school record set by Jake Wheeler in 2008 (61.08 meters) and the previous UAA record, set by Washington’ Keith England in 2009 (60.48 meters).  It marked the second-straight season that he won the event at the UAA Championships, and the fourth-straight season he earned all-UAA honors in the javelin.  Bassen added all-UAA honors by placing third in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.77 meters and third in the discus throw with a toss of 41.33 meters.  He totaled 22 points for the Eagles, helping Emory win its first UAA Outdoor Championship since the 2004 campaign.
