Emory Men's Track & Field Place Fifth at UAA Outdoor Championships

Juniors Benjamin Rogin and Charlie Hu captured event titles as the Emory University Men's Track and Field team finished fifth in the team standings at the University Athletic Association Championships this weekend in Chicago, Illinois. The Eagles scored 78 team points across the two-day championship meet. Carnegie Mellon University were crowned team champions with 186 points.

For the second consecutive year, Rogin won the 110m Hurdles and earned All-UAA honors in the event for the third time. Rogin clocked a 15.11 time in the finals to edge out CMU's Donald Boyer by .08 seconds. Rogin added an individual fifth place showing in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 55.44 and was the anchor leg in Emory's 4x100m Relay team that was seventh at 48.80.

Hu led the Eagles in the field events at the meet, scoring in three events including a title in the triple jump. After back-to-back third place finishes the past two seasons, Hu captured the triple jump crown posting a mark of 13.97m in the finals. He added a pair of fourth place efforts, recording a mark of 6.81m in the long jump on Saturday and a distance of 51.26m in the javelin on Sunday.

The Eagles saw three additional All-UAA finishes at the meet turned in by sophomore Bennett Shaw, junior Shane Sullivan and senior Kyle Veator.

On Saturday, Shaw finished in a career-best time of 9:22.88 to take silver in the 3000m Steeplechase. In the long jump, Veator recording a personal-best 7.04m. On Sunday, Sullivan placed second in the 5000m Run with a time of 14:45.48.
