Prior to Emory:

Was a two-year member of the Shanghai American School Track and Field team, serving as the captain his senior year... Helped his team to APAC Championships in 2012 and 2013, and third-place finishes in 2013 and 2014... Named his team's Most Valuable Player in 2014... Recorded career-best marks of 6.0 meters in the long jump, 12.5 meters in the triple jump, 49 meters in the javelin throw and 16.2 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles... Coached by John Veitch... Also played volleyball and basketball in high school.
