Men's Track & Field Places 15 on UAA 30th Anniversary Team

The Emory University Men's Track & Field program saw 15 current and former student-athletes named to the University Athletic Association 30th Anniversary team which was released Thursday morning by the conference office.

The 30th Anniversary team consists of each student-athlete who was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the UAA Indoor Track and Field Championship or UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, or won an individual event at the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Troy Thompson and Daniel Pietsch were two Eagles which earned automatic selections by virtue of winning NCAA Division III individual titles with Thompson winning the triple jump at the 1995 outdoor national meet and Pietsch claiming the outdoor 400-meters crown in 2016. Thompson was also a four-time UAA Most Outstanding Performer selection, sweeping both the indoor and outdoor honors during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. He was inducted into the Emory Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.

Chris Williams joins Thompson as another Emory Hall of Famer to earn recognition on the UAA 30th Anniversary team. Williams captured the Most Outstanding Performer award in all seven conference championship meets he competed in, garnering the indoor award every year from 1993 to 1996 and taking home the outdoor award from 1992 through 1994. He was part of the 2004 Emory Sports Hall of Fame induction class.

Senior Charlie Hu is the lone current Eagle to make an appearance on the anniversary team as Hu was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the 2017 indoor championship.

Other Emory honorees include James Bassen, Tyler Faits, George McCleary, Mike Moserowitz, Chris Nehls, Ian Francis, Alex Greenhouse, Max Hoberman, T.J. Jennings, Rob Leventhal and Frederick Linton.

A total of 69 student-athletes from all eight member institutions were selected to the 30th Anniversary team with the Eagles' total ranking as the most by any school along with Washington University.
