Track & Field Compete at Hillsdale, North Central Meets

The Emory University Track and Field teams were in action on Thursday and Friday this week with the Hillsdale Last Chance Meet and the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College.

Senior Benjamin Rogin represented the Eagles at Hillsdale on Thursday with a strong performance in the 110m Hurdles. In the prelims, Rogin posted a time of 14.60 before topping that mark in the finals at 14.58 for a new personal best.

Sophomore Samuel Branson set a new PR on Friday at North Central, clocking in at 3:59.56 in the 1500m Run. Junior Bennett Shaw and freshmen Jack Whetstone and Jacob Hedgepeth also represented the men at North Central with Shaw turning in a time of 9:38.30 in the steeplechase, Whetstone finishing at 15:36.11 in the 5000m Run and Hedgepeth recording times of 4:01.79 in the 1500m Run and 1:59.83 in the 800m.

On the women’s side, junior Dani Bland finished second in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.20 while senior Gabrielle Stravach was seventh in the 1500m Run at 4:35.58. Bland added a third place showing as a member of 4x100m Relay with classmate Dilys Osei, senior Erica Goldman and freshman Rebekah Bondi at 47.92. Goldman and Bondi competed individually as well at North Central with Goldman finishing fourth in the 400m Dash at 57.20 and Bondi in 10th in the 100m at 12.61.

Rounding out the Emory competitors at North Central were sophomore Isabel Saridakis in the pole vault (T-8th, 3.55m), sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard in the 400m Dash (11th, 59.42) and freshman Taylor Robinson in the javelin (14th, 29.48m).

The Eagles return to North Central later this week with the Gregory Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday.
