Fost Claims 400m Dash Title on Final Day of UAA Championships

The Emory University Men's Track and Field team completed competition at the 2019 UAA Indoor Championships in Waltham, MA on Sunday, placing seventh in the team standings with 39 points.

Sophomore Liam Fost highlighted the afternoon of events for the Eagles as he captured the team's second event championship of the meet. Fost lowered his personal best with a finals time of 48.80 to win gold in the 400m Dash. His time also moved him up on the school's all-time ladder to sixth fastest all-time.

Fost added an eighth place showing in the 200m Dash as he one of six scoring finishers on the day, taking eighth with a time of 23.49. In the 800m Run, freshman Jon Marcus came in fourth at 1:56.26 with sophomore Thomas Perretta placing seventh at 1:57.42. Freshman Lucas Werner notched an eighth place finish in the 60m Hurdles and in the 200m Dash, junior Fernando Cardozo was seventh at 23.77.

The 4x400m Relay team of Marcus, Perretta, junior Alex Rand and freshman Matthew White closed out the day's slate of events, finishing seventh with a time of 3:28.37.

Emory will send athletes to both Roanoke and Tufts in final chance meets next weekend before setting its sights on the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 8th-9th in Boston, MA.
