Men's Track & Field Open Outdoor Season with Home Invitational

The Emory University Men's Track and Field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule this past weekend, finishing in fifth place as a team at the Emory Invitational.

The Eagles turned in three event victories over the two-day meet with sophomore John Cox winning the 5000m Run with a time of 15:21.68 and the 4x800m Relay of sophomores Thomas Perretta, Jacob Hedgepeth, Jonathan Rosenfeld and freshman William McGuire recording a sub-eight minute time, crossing the finish line at 7:56.43. Over in the field events, freshman Patrick Crockett claimed the javelin with a winning distance of 48.94m.

Adding scoring finishes on the track were sophomore Liam Fost in the 400m Dash (4th, 49.43), McGuire (2nd, 4:02.53), Hedgepeth (5th, 4:03.20) and freshman Spencer Moore (6th, 4:03.43) in the 1500m Run, freshman Jon Marcus in the 5000m Run (8th, 15:39.73) and sophomore Matthew Burke in the 10,000m Run (8th, 32:53.39).

In the field events, senior Zachary Lembersky was sixth in the discus at 37.42m while freshman Chris Jernigan was eighth in the javelin at 42.06m.

The Eagles continue their home meet stretch with the Emory Classic next Friday and Saturday, March 29-30 at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.
