Men's Track & Field Score in Five Events to Open UAA Championships

The Emory University men's track and field team began competition at the 2019 UAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, totaling 12 points on the first day of action. This year's meet is being held at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

Freshman Spencer Moore and Yuri Brunner paced the Eagles on the first day of competition, placing fifth in their respective events. Moore turned in a time of 9:34.73 in the 3000m steeplechase with Brunner posting a height of 4.17m in the pole vault.

Adding scoring finishes for the Eagles on Saturday was the the 4x800m Relay team of Jon Marcus, William McGuire, Jacob Hedgepeth and Thomas Perretta (7th, 8:06.27), freshman Connor Kamp in the long jump (8th, 6.21m) and senior Zachary Lembersky in the hammer throw (8th, 44.06m).

In the track preliminaries, the Eagles saw seven qualifiers on the afternoon with Perretta (5th, 1:54.89) and Marcus (7th, 1:55.17) in the 800m Run, Mason Lewis (5th, 11.04) and Jacob Solomon (T-6th, 11.10) in the 100m Dash, Liam Fost in the 400m Dash (2nd, 48.37) and Lucas Werner in both the 110m Hurdles (7th, 15.78) and 400m Hurdles (4th, 55.93).

The UAA Championships conclude on Sunday with action beginning at 10:00 AM EST and continuing until 3:00 PM at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.
