Track & Field Finishes Strong at Torrin Lawrence Memorial

The Emory University track and field teams finished competition at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial Saturday afternoon as the meet concluded at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Annika Urban was the top performer on the afternoon for the Eagles as she eclipsed her own school record in the 5000m Run, the second school record set by the Emory women’s team at the meet. Urban finished third in the event with her time of 17:03.81, surpassing her previous top time of 17:14.41 that she ran at the Flames Invitational.

In addition to Urban, three individuals registered season-best team marks with Hannah Lansberry running a 58.53 in the 400m Dash, Isabel Saridakis posting a height of 3.83m in the pole vault and Amaya Martin clocking in at 15.52 in the 100m Hurdles. Furthermore, the 4x400m Relay team of Lansberry, Michelle Rosenblum, Claire Evans and Rebekah Bondi came in under the four-minute mark for the first time this season, finishing in a time of 3:58.16.

Other top performers for the women were Laura Sheckter in the shot put (12.49m), Taylor Robinson in the javelin (36.59m), Lauren Cunild in the 1500m Run (4:41.88) and Jessica Barbarosh in the 100m Dash (12.59).

Jack Whetstone led all Emory men’s athletes on Saturday as he finished second in the 5000m Run with a personal-best 14:30.95, the third fastest time ever by an Eagle in the history of the event. In the 3000m Steeplechase, Spencer Moore cracked the top-four all-time in school history in the event with his mark of 9:17.26, the fourth fastest ever ran by an Eagle.

In the 100m Dash, JonCarlo Migaly became the first to post a sub 11-second time this season for the team as he finished seventh at 10.95. He helped the Eagles to a season-best time in the 4x100m Relay earlier in the afternoon, teaming with Liam Fost, Connor Sweeney and Thomas Davis to run a time of 42.21.

Chris Jernigan rounded out the top performers for Emory on the afternoon as he put forth a season-best throw in the javelin, taking fourth at 49.21m.

The Eagles will return to action this Friday with a last chance qualifier meet at Life University, the first of two scheduled last chance meets as the teams makes a final push to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
